Spanish User Interface Feature
The primary purpose of these multi-lingual changes in the application is to deliver educational documents and completed consent documents in both English and Spanish to meet the needs of Spanish-speaking patients and their families.
The Final View of these consents and the selected educational documents are now presented in dual-language mode. The Consent documents include both English and Spanish text in each section of the document. The non-Consent forms contain the complete Spanish text at the beginning of the document, followed by the complete English text.
Some changes have also been made to the consent wizard, allowing the user to select either English or Spanish mode on each wizard panel to facilitate the patient discussion. A new radio button control appears in the User Interface at the left. The default value is “English”. In “English” mode, all English-only documents appear on the screen (as before).

When the user selects “Include Spanish”, only those documents that are available in multi-lingual mode are presented.

The user selects a consent procedure or other document as before for completion.
Curently the "Show Values in:" are in "English".

Here is an example of the “English-US” version of the Description of Treatment/Procedure panel When “English” is selected, all text in the wizard panel is presented in English.
Notice the “Show Values in:” dropdown control at the bottom of the screen.

If the user edits any of the text in the wizard panels during the consent discussion with the patient, the system will now prompt for a corresponding edit to that text in the other language. For example, if the provider obtaining the patient’s consent edits the Risks section in English mode, the system will display the follow alert when the “Next” button is clicked.
Selecting the “No” option re-displays the Risks wizard panel so the user can change to Spanish view and make the same editorial comments in Spanish, if applicable.
Selecting the “Yes” option advances the wizard to the next panel WITHOUT making the same editorial comment in Spanish.

Completing the consent wizard will bring the up the Final View form as before. Note the Final View is a multi-lingual document with each section presented in English, and then immediately followed by the Spanish equivalent in italics. (The Progress Note is not affected by the language controls; it remains in English only).

The option to change from English to Spanish mode has been added to the Signature panels as well, enabling viewing of the explanatory text in either language for the signatory. Here the text on the Patient Signature panel is presented in English

Additional Notes - The documents presented in Spanish are only available if the user selects the “Include Spanish” radio button on the Main Screen. Thus, this affects how Spanish documents included in a “Package” or in your “Favorites” folder are accessed.
If you have any Spanish documents included in a “Package”, those documents will ONLY appear under the “Packages” label if you are in “Include Spanish” mode; they will NOT appear under the “Packages” label if you are in “English” mode.
Similarly, your Spanish “Favorites” will only appear under the “Favorites” label if you are in Spanish mode, and your English “Favorites” will only appear if you are English mode.
Documents to Sign
Both English and Spanish (multi-lingual) documents can be prepared ahead and stored for later signature completion in “Documents to Sign”.
However, a Spanish document that is stored in “Documents to Sign” can ONLY be completed in “Spanish” mode, (and, similarly, an English-only document can only be completed in English mode).
So, for example, if the user is in English mode and selects a document from the “Documents to Sign” folder that was originally prepared in Spanish, the following warning will appear

The user will have to select the “Include Spanish” radio button to switch to Spanish mode and then select the document again for completion.
